Richard Cantu is a career broadcast journalist with more than 30 years of experience. He’s covered stories, big and small; trying (and frequently succeeding) to have fun at work while maintaining the seriousness that comes with providing listeners a snapshot of their world.
In his latest incarnation, Mr. Cantu has been a correspondent with ABC News since 2004, most recently anchoring the network’s hourly newscasts in the evening. He also produces the network’s “Focus on the White House” feature.
Before being called to New York, Mr. Cantu held various radio news positions at stations in Chicago and Milwaukee – including Chicago’s WBBM NewsRadio 780, where he anchored afternoons. He also anchored newscasts on the “John Records Landecker” morning show on Oldies 104.3 in Chicago. Other highlights include anchoring and reporting news at Milwaukee dynasty WTMJ.
A native of Chicago, Mr. Cantu lives in New York City’s New Jersey suburbs. He has two adult children from a previous relationship.
